Preparing the trick
Before starting the performance, remove the four jacks from the deck and arrange them neatly in a pile on the table. Discreetly place one of the jacks on top of the deck — so that the spectator doesn’t notice.
The performance
- Show the spectator the three jacks lying on the table. Then place one of them on top of the deck (where the previously hidden jack is already waiting — there are now two there). Put the second one at the bottom of the deck, and place the third one anywhere in the middle of the deck.
- Place the deck on the table and divide it into two piles. Place the pile with the jack as the bottom card on top of the pile with the two jacks as the top cards.
- Now, with a flourish, fan out the cards and proudly reveal that the three jacks – even though they were separated just a moment ago – have miraculously gathered together.
