The trick in a nutshell
Amaze your audience with a trick in which a coin appears in a tightly sealed container in the blink of an eye, evoking genuine wonder and amazement!
How to perform
- Assemble the prop according to the instructions shown in the video. Then, before performing the trick, hang it on your right hip or clip it to your right back trouser pocket. Make sure the funnel is facing upwards – this is where you’ll later drop the coin.
- Ask a spectator for a coin or use the one from the set. Encourage the spectator to mark it, e.g. by drawing on it with a marker pen (remember to use an erasable marker so as not to damage the coin from the set).
- Take the coin from the spectator with your right hand, holding its edges between the thumb and index finger of your right hand.
- Bring your left thumb close to the space between the thumb and index finger of your right hand. Clench your left hand, pretending to hold the coin in it, whilst simultaneously relaxing your right thumb and allowing the coin to fall onto your right hand.
- Note: Practise this movement so that the spectator does not notice the coin falling onto your right hand.
- Hold your clenched left hand out in front of you, pretending to hold the coin in it.
- While the audience is focusing on your left hand, quickly and discreetly drop the coin into the disc (through the funnel) behind your back using your right hand.
- Note: The entire movement should be decisive. There is no time for hesitation.
- With a dynamic movement, pull the disc downwards, detaching it from the funnel.
- Bring your clenched left hand close to the disc, pretending to push the coin inside with a magical gesture, and spread both hands apart. The coin has vanished!
- Slowly and with suspense, open the box. The audience will see that there is a coin in the pouch secured with rubber bands! It is the very coin marked by the spectator!
