The trick in a nutshell
With this trick, you’ll show that you can defy the force of gravity! A mysterious power ensures that the bottle and the string are firmly connected – defying all the laws of physics!
The routine
- Before starting the show, place a small rubber ball and a piece of string into the bottle.
- Take the string and put it into the bottle.
- Holding the string, turn the bottle upside down. Thanks to the ball inside, the string will be stuck in the neck of the bottle. Say to the audience: “If I let go of the string now, it should fall – after all, gravity is acting on it.”
- When you let go of the string, it will hang in the air. Say to the audience: Look! It’s amazing! The string is hanging in the air!
- Now grab the string and lift the bottle along with it. Say to the audience: “I control gravity. That’s why neither the string nor the bottle is falling.” Hold the string, and the bottle won’t fall either.
Test by the audience
- Holding the bottle in one hand, grab the string with your other hand and push it down. This will cause the ball inside to fall to the bottom of the bottle.
- Remove the string and hand it to the audience to check. Meanwhile, discreetly turn the bottle in your other hand and let the ball fall into your palm – hide it from the audience. Now you can safely hand the bottle over for them to check as well.
