The trick in a nutshell
Shake the container and watch as the large cube magically disappears, replaced by eight small cubes – as if conjured out of thin air!
Checking the props
The lid of the container and the side of the cube have built-in magnets. Make sure the large cube sticks firmly to the magnet on the lid, as shown in the video.
Preparing the trick
- The trick is best performed at a table.
- Place the 8 small cubes inside the large cube.
- Tilt the transparent container. Place the large cube into the container with the opening facing downwards – this will keep the small cubes inside.
Performance
- Show the audience the large white cube placed inside the container. Do this in such a way that the audience does not notice the small cubes inside.
- Close the container.
- Shake the container vigorously up and down. At this point, the large cube ‘explodes’, turning into several small cubes.
- Note: Keep the container below the audience’s line of sight so they do not see the large cube attached to the lid.
- Open the lid of the container and take out the eight small cubes, showing them to the audience to capture their attention. Keep the lid below the edge of the table to hide the large cube. If you can, quickly and discreetly remove the large cube from it and hide it.
- While the audience is looking at the small dice on the table, cleverly set the lid aside with your right hand without drawing attention to it. To the audience, it’s pure magic – the large die has turned into eight small dice.
